Our newly elected Borough Councilor Ashley Howells writes" Many thanks for placing the horrific photos of the car and motor cylce accident in last week's email and your eminently sensible advice points on the CIS shop website - ALL TOO OFTEN I witness motorists on mobiles along our local roads (especially at the Swan with Two Necks junctions) - utterly wreckless and potentially suicidal/murderous

I shall be lobbying the Police for greater enforcement .........

Can you help spread our World Cup message about our latest anti-violence campaign
- and help keep Staffordshire safe during the World Cup?

Staffordshire police write "We’re very much hoping you can help us spread the word about our latest anti-violence campaign - and help keep Staffordshire safe during the World Cup.

Please find below a link to a gritty and thought-provoking Staffordshire Police video about the dangers that come with drinking too much.

It’s been made with help from students at Staffordshire University, who took on some of the acting and technical roles.

Assistant Chief Constable Jane Sawyers has asked that we bring the video to your personal attention. We’d be grateful if you could publicise or forward the link to help bring it to the attention of the target audience: young men aged 18-32 who love football and like a drink.

During the last World Cup, there were huge jumps nationally in reported domestic violence on England match days. And the number of people requiring A&E treatment following assaults in and around licensed premises also went up.

Fortunately, here in Staffordshire, violent crime with injury where the offender was under the influence of drink fell by over five per cent last year. We hope the video will help that trend continue.

Please take a quick look at the video - it’s only three minutes long. And if you could let us know how you’ve helped spread the word, all the better.

Many thanks.
