Garage burglary in Charnes Road Ashley

Dear Watch Member,

BK52 68781

Between Tuesday 18th and Tuesday 25th August a burglary was committed at the garage of a dwelling in Charnes Road Ashley. Whilst the owners were away on holiday the electric up and over door to the garage was forced causing damage. Although an untidy search was made nothing appears to have been stolen. Please pass this message onto your neighbours and ask them to be extra vigilant. If any of your neighbours are away please make regular checks of their property and report any suspicious persons or incidents to the police immediately. Thank you.

Again vigilance required around the village.

High Risk Wednesday 26 August 2009

Problem: A lady named Kerry claiming to be from Crime Prevention has been cold-calling businesses in the Stoke-on-Trent area by telephone offering the chance to support local crime reduction initiatives. When asked for further information the caller has claimed to be working for the Police, though when challenged further as to which station she hung up.
It is believed that the intention of the call was to offer advertising space in directories or books for local schools as with similar cold-callers that have targeted local businesses in recent times.

Possible Action: Do not agree to pay money to people during unsolicited calls.

At work in Staffordshires County Council a team is conducting a survey about the future of transport planning in Staffordshire. It would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes each completing the questionnaire, which can be found at www.stack-up.info or directly through the Council's homepage - you could win £200!. Also, the team would be grateful if you could encourage anyone else that you are aware of in the area that has an interest in transport provision or other highway matters.
