| Tenure of Messages
from N.H.Watch to members Dear Watch Member, Not particularly in your area but raised from time to time is the apparent
lack of messages being received by you in regard to incidents of crime
in your localities. One such area to raise concerns is the
Knighton area where to say the least there are few members of the
Watch scheme, despite various attempts by myself and police officers to
raise awareness. In general I and others do not broadcast items of relatively
low criminal level of activity as to do so would diminish the importance
of more important material and in respect of anti social behaviour incidents
which in the vast majority of cases are not strictly criminal, likewise
I do not chose to broadcast those but am confident you as members let
the police know of such occurrances. Please remember to utilise the 0300
123 44 55 number for non emergency incidents. |

"URGENT! A large parcel is awaiting delivery There’s a text doing the rounds. If you get a text message saying something like "URGENT! A large parcel is awaiting delivery, please call +43820990914 for delivery tomorrow. From International Parcel Deliveries", DO NOT call it, or any other number listed, as it’s likely to be a scam “When an unsolicited text message is received a Vodafone customer can forward it, free of charge, directly to 87726 or VSPAM on their mobile keypad. Vodafone will then collate a consolidated report of all the unsolicited text messages reported by its customers, which it plans to send directly to mobile messaging regulators… previously customers were advised to contact the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services (ICSTIS) directly… [who] can take regulatory action against parties running such services. ICSTIS has prosecuted several service providers so far and it intends to ‘name and shame’ the operators who currently support the service providers running these premium rate services.” |

News from Cassie and Sarah in Tanzania Cassie and Sarah wish to thank everyone who supported their fundraising concert at Ashley St. John Parish Church on Friday 7th August it raised nearly £600. They flew out to Nairobi, Kenya on Monday 17th August and were met by Joseph Renju the director of Saidia. After a 13 hour car journey they arrived at their destination - Mwanza in Tanzania. The journey alone provided some unforgettable sights baboons, grass fires, shanty settlements and people everywhere. They soon got stuck into their project work and are enjoying the challenges and experiencing the frustrations as well as the warmth and friendliness of all the people they are meeting. Intermittent electricity and water, and mozzi bites are part of their everyday life. On their day off they visited the Serengeti National Park and were fortunate to see an amazing array of wildlife.
