Dear Watch Member,

An increase in criminal activity in the rural area whereby secluded garages and canal boats have been broken into

Over the last week there has been an increase in criminal activity in the rural area whereby secluded garages and canal boats have been broken into.
There is information to suggest that a Blue Vauxhall Astra has been seen in the Hales/Almington where the four occupants were considered very
suspicious.

Police would encourage vigilance and ask residents to report anything they
find suspicious.

Many Thanks

Neil Coward PC4628

Adverse Weather Conditions - a resident's response

"Hi guys
Having been in a car behind the bin lorry yesterday (13 January), when it decided it was going to come back down the top end of Chestnut Road sideways after a failed attempt to turn into Broom Hollow, I can fully understand the problems they are having. Please let people know that they have tried!!

Thanks for your updates, they are greatly appreciated.
Tracey"

Your Recycling Service is changing

On 2nd March 2010 the second phase of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Councils recycling service commences. A weekly food waste collection service, extension of the garden waste service to all homes in the borough with a garden and your rubbish bin will be emptied fortnightly.

During February 2010 residents will receive a silver kitchen caddy, starter roll of corn starch bags and a green outside bin. These will be provided for your weekly food waste collection. The corn starch bags provided are to line your silver kitchen caddy. When your silver kitchen caddy is full it will need to be emptied into the green outside bin. The green outside bin will be collected weekly. You will be able to purchase the special corn starch bags from a number of local shops around the borough. Residents will receive a list of local stockists when their food waste caddies are delivered in February.

Additionally, residents will receive a food waste service information leaflet; this will explain what waste foods can be recycled and how to use the food waste bins.

The long awaited garden waste service is to be expanded to every household in the borough with a garden. Your garden waste bin will be collected fortnightly and you can put grass, leaves, plants, twigs and prunings in this bin. The garden waste collected will be turned into fertiliser and used as a soil improver on local farms. If you have additional garden waste you can purchase ten potato starch biodegradable bags from the Guildhall. Additional garden waste must be presented in a council purchased sack. The brown lidded garden waste bins will be delivered to residents during February.

The separate weekly collection of food waste, fortnightly collection of dry recyclables and garden waste will mean there is very little waste in your general household bin. As a result your household rubbish bin will be emptied fortnightly.

The borough councils Recycling Officers will be at Loggerheads Community Information Shop on Monday 22nd February between 11am and 1pm with a Recycling Drop-in Surgery. They will be available to answer your recycling queries, provide recycling advice and take orders for any recycling boxes and bags that you need. The recycling officers will also be delivering a presentation on the recycling service on Tuesday 23rd February at 7.30pm, Hugo Meynell School. Additionally, the recycling officers will be in Newcastle Town Centre on Friday 19th February between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Thank you for recycling for Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

Loggerheads FC shirt sponsorship is vital are very pleased that sponsorship is by Randles Suzuki

Loggerheads FC are pleased to announce that Randles Suzuki has agreed to sponsor the club’s new strip.

Phil Wade of Randles is seen with club officials and players wearing the new colours.

Loggerheads is a village club running teams in the Coors League and Potteries and District Sunday League and it celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. In addition to playing football it is also active in raising money for local charities and recently donated another £250 to Ashley First Responders. To continue to run teams and raise money for local causes shirt sponsorship is vital and we look forward to a long and satisfying relationship with Randles Suzuki.
