| Village Hall Damage
Unfortunately the hall has recently been the target of vandalism and graffiti. The youths that hang around outside the hall have been told that they can do so as long as they respect the property and it is not in use. If you spot any youths outside the hall whilst it is in use, please contact the local non-emergency police number on 0300 123 4455 and they will politely be asked to leave. Many Thanks, Peter Davis, Chairman. |

| Charity Auction
Success A big thank you to all who supported the Charity Auction at The Peel in November in aid of The Douglas Macmillan Hospice. We received huge support from local companies and public donations which helped us to raised over £3000's on the night! It was a wonderful result. The Hospice is run by 200 full and part time and 400 volunteers. Their costs are in excess of £20,000 a day to run the Hospice, which includes a 28 bed in-patient unit, a 25 place day car unit, palliative care nursing team, 24 hour ‘hospice at home’ care, social work, bereavement support, chaplaincy team and therapeutic care. They rely on voluntary donations to pay the majority of their costs. They need to raise in excess of £7 million a year (07/08 figure)! Due to the current economic climate donations have significantly fallen this year. Therefore there are no capital projects on the go at the moment, therefore all monies raised will go directly to help fund the running costs of the Hospice and extended services they provide. |

| SCAM ALERT
High Risk Monday 7 December 2009 Problem: It has been reported that a couple with a child in a pushchair were knocking on the doors of bungalows at night. They were claiming that the mother needed to travel somewhere but only had a £20 note and they asked if the occupier had change. The £20 turned out to be a forged note. Possible Action: This is a scam. Be wary of people asking for change for notes which may be forgeries. Never answer the door to anyone unexpected. |

POSSIBLE SCAM using Lloyds Pharacist, Newcastle under Lyme A local resident writes "I received a call from a guy who was the
prescribing pharmacist at Lloyds in Newcastle. He said that he had a prescription
in my name and needed to establish that it was genuine 'given the nature
of the drugs'. He knew my name and address, bute wouldn't say what the
drugs were, and he said that he was now concerned that he had been presented
with a fraudulent prescription. I was concerned because I only ever receive
prescription meds from my surgery.. I told him that I would talk to my
surgery, but that he could be certain this was not mine. If this has happened to you, please let me know at info@loggerheads.eu |
