Thursday 22 April 2010 The BloomIn'Ashley Fundraising Auction raised
a £1040
Thanks again for supporting our activites.
Last Thursday the BloomIn'Ashley Fundraising Auction raised a £1040,
the proceeds of the auction, a raffle on the night and the kind
offers of flower barrel sponsorship by local residents combined
to break our own record set this time last year. Our thanks go to
all those who bought, brought and bid for items, and those who took
a chance on the raffle. We are also very grateful to Margaret and
the team at The Peel Arms as well our resident auctioneer Colin
Sutton. The funds raised will be put together with the grant from
the Parish Council and will go towards flowers, equipment and other
items required to keep making our pretty village even prettier.
Last Friday and Saturday
23/24 April 2010 The BloomIn'Ashley Group (over 30 volunteers) collected
27 bags of rubbish
Over the course of the weekend over 30 people helped out. Most came
along on Saturday but such is the level of support we have, some
went out on Friday night as they were away for the weekend and some
promised to do an area on Sunday morning. We collected 27 bags of
rubbish which were wisked magically away by Newcastle Councils 'Streetscene'
team on Saturday afternoon. This year for the first time, and thanks
in part to the glorious weather, we were able to put on 'Coffee
& Cakes' for the weary pickers, a selection of whom are pictured.
Kindest regards
Nic
